VACATION!

Darin's parents took 25 of us to San Diego for a week. Darin, his 4 siblings and their families. This includes 13 children under the age of 10. Yes, they are crazy, but we're glad they are. We had a fabulous time and didn't want to come home. This is the pink palace where we stayed. We had 3 units for all of us, and since we have the most kids, we got one all to ourselves. Yeah!
The San Diego Zoo was one of the hi-lights for us. Our faves were the pandas, monkeys, and the aviary.

Darin and Kayla went to a Padres game one evening. They had a great time and the Padres won 5 to 1 against the Dodgers. Go Padres!

This is at the Wild Animal Park. Aubree was chosen as a volunteer to go up and take a snake out of the basket. Of course it was fake and popped out of the basket right in front of her. I snapped this picture at just the right time. The snake is at the top of the picture and Aubree has a great look on her face!
I have so many pictures of this trip it was hard to pick which ones to include here, but I couldn't resist this picture of Lyndi at Sea World. She asked to look at the map as we were walking along. Just as we walk up to the new Sesame Street play area she announces "Mom, I found it!" and points to it on the map. Good thing we have such a good navigator!
All the cousins, except Alex. On the way home we discussed our favorite things. Here's the list.
  • Collecting shells on the beach at 6:30 in our pajamas.
  • The ride Atlantis at Sea World
  • Watching Tiger Woods at the U.S. Open (Darin's favorite)
  • The Musical Cats
  • Being serenaded at the Mexican restaurant Guadalajara
  • Watching monkeys at the zoo
  • The Padres baseball game

There were many more, but these were some of them.

(I tried to e-mail this, but I seem to have your old address--would you send me your new one?)

This is sort of our schedule. It takes less than an hour, but it's sort of nice to have something structured every day. So far it's been really fun!

School Schedule

Take Roll
Show and Tell
Write in Journals
Quiet Reading time (20 minutes) (this is my favorite part because we all read our own books so I actually get some quiet reading time too!)
Science Experiment or Craft
P.E.
Subject of the Week*

(*Guitar, woodworking, math, languages, board games, cooking, etc.)

P.S. I've seen your blog. I also got it from Karin. I think I commented a while ago. Your kids are soooo cute. We'll be there on the 4th in Richfield. Will you guys be there? We'd love to see you!

Looks like you had a great time. San Diego is such a fun place to visit! Looking forward to seeing you on the 4th--we'll only be there that day, then we're going up to Fish Lake with the whole Brown clan. Hopefully we can all still get together!
